MANUSCRIT. - TROUILLET (Mathurin). Reginae Eloquantiae Simbola sive Praecepta Rhetoricae Emblematum, umbris illustrata [...]. [At the end]: Hec optabat benevolus praeceptor Petrus Julien Congregationis oratorii domini Jesu, sacerdos et rhetoricae professor, in seminario cenomanensi anno reparatae salutis M. D. C. L. XI. S.l., 1661. Manuscript in-4, approx. 340 pages, fawn morocco, double framed with two fillets and corner fleurons, mention mathurinus / trouillet gilt on covers, spine decorated, gilt edges (Period binding). Rhetoric course copied by Mathurin Trouillet, a student at the Collège des Oratoriens in Le Mans in 1661. Charming manuscript, illustrated with naive pen-and-ink drawings in color: 6 large drawings separating the parts of the course, and 28 emblems. Text in brown ink and ruled, with running titles in pink ink. On a flyleaf, this note refers to a gift of the manuscript: Rhetorica data a patre reverendissimo Renaudin fine corantur nobile semper opus anno domini 1739. Minor damage to the upper and lower casings of the binding.
