Brevis epygraphe... Lyon, Lugano, Ex Typographia Supraemae Superioritatis Helveticae in Prefetturis Italicis, 1757. In-8, stiff vellum, cold fillet, smooth mute spine, red edges (Italian binding of the period).
First edition of the first Italian work on medical statistics (cf. Prospero Balbo, in Memorie della Reale Accademia delle Scienze di Torino, t. XXXIV, 1830, p. 87).
Turin-born physician and philosopher Cesare Molineri compiled the first tables of births and deaths, with associated pathologies, recorded at the Turin hospital from 1749 to 1755.
This work was also one of the first printed in Lugano, Switzerland, where printing was not introduced until the mid-18th century (Deschamps, col. 764).
