OFFICE DE LA SEMAINE SAINTE (L'), à l'usage de la Maison du Roy. [...] Avec l'explication des Cérémonies de l'Eglise [...] par l'Abbé de Bellegarde. Paris, De l'Imprimerie de Jacques Collombat, 1741. In-8, red morocco, large gilded plate with fanfare in the center of a wide border of flowers, coat of arms in the center, ornate spine, interior roulette, gilded edges on marble (Period binding).
Edition decorated with an allegorical frontispiece, a title-frontispiece and 5 handsome full-page engravings by Humblot at the beginning of the services.
Rich fanfare binding with the arms and cipher of Louis XV.
This plate was inspired by 17th-century compartmented bindings, and features a late "fanfare" decoration. It can be found on several copies of the Office de la semaine sainte, mostly for the use of the Maison royale, printed in Paris between 1715 and 1748.
Some rubbing to the binding.
