In-12, red morocco, triple gilt fillet, gilt coat of arms in center, spine decorated with repeated arms, interior roulette, gilt edges (period binding). First edition. A very useful work for all Gens de Guerre, including an explanation of military functions and a summary of royal ordinances on the subject. A morocco copy bearing the arms of Daniel François Voysin de La Noiraye (1654-1717). A protégé of Madame de Maintenon, he was appointed Secretary of State for War in 1709 after the disgrace of Michel Chamillart, and became Chancellor of France in 1714. Slight wetness in the margins of the title and a few leaves. Spine a little faded.
