PROCESSIONAL. Incipit ordo processionum: que fiunt in cenobi - Lot 114
PROCESSIONAL. Incipit ordo processionum: que fiunt in cenobiis fratrum celestinorum secundum usu romane curie pro anni circulum... [Followed by]: Responsoria addita antiquis processionatiis, & primo de Tempore, De sancto Joanne Evangelista. Paris, Jean Petit, s.d. [c. 1500]. 2 parts in one volume in-16, brown calf, spine decorated with cold irons (Late 17th-century binding).
Extremely rare processional of the Célestins de Paris, printed in Gothic script, with music notated.
No copies appear in foreign public collections. The Répertoire des rituels et processionnaux imprimés conservés en France cites only one copy (Paris BA), which is incomplete. The Celestine order, named after Pope Celestine V (c. 1210-1296), founder of the order before his enthronement, was introduced to France in 1300. The Célestins de Paris monastery, erected in 1352, took the lead in France. Closely linked to the royal family, it became the necropolis of kings, princes and many illustrious personalities, and one of the richest and most important spiritual centers in Paris.
The processions of the Célestins order do not appear to have been the subject of any other publication.
