RETZ (cardinal de). - Lot 123
RETZ (cardinal de). The Conjuring of Count Jean-Louis de Fiesque. Paris, Claude Barbin, 1665. In-12, grained calf, cold fillet, ornate spine, spotted edges (contemporary binding). First edition of the author's first work. (Tchemerzine, t. V, p. 393.) Written at the age of eighteen, it first circulated in the form of handwritten copies, and was not printed until much later. Handwritten bookplate on title: Au marquis de St Maurice. Some foxing, restoration in the box at the bottom of the spine.
