First edition of this biography of Ivan the Terrible (1530-1584), Russia's first tsar. It was printed in Frankfurt am Main, under the false address of St. Petersburg (cf. Die Falschen und firgirten Druckorte, t. I, p. 196). Modern bookplate Friedrich Alfred Bekker. Faded boards, one leaf (blank? false-title?) missing before the title, small tear without missing leaf L2.
