First edition of this work on "natural printing", a galvanotype printing technique (using a lead plate) discovered by Austrian printer and illustrator Alois Auer (1813-1869).
It features 19 engraved plates, depicting stones, mosses, plants, animals, lace, etc. Quadrilingual text (German, English, Italian and French).
Some plates with foxing. Minor restoration to second cover.
