CERVANTÈS (Miguel de). The Ingenious Hidalgo Don Quixote de la Mancha. Translated and annotated by Louis Viardot. Paris, Dubochet et Cie, 1836-1837. 2 volumes in-8, red half-maroquin with corners, spine decorated, speckled edges (period binding). First printing. 2 frontispieces printed on chine, including the portrait of Don Quixote (here with moustache) and 800 vignettes in the text engraved after Tony Johannot, plus an ornate faux-title on white vellum, engraved by Best and Leloir. A very fine copy, in an elegant, fresh contemporary binding. Some quires slightly browned.
