LAMARTINE (Alphonse de). Jocelyn. Episode. Journal trouvé chez un curé de village. Paris, Gosselin et Furne, 1836. 2 volumes in-8, purple half calf, smooth spine decorated throughout, marbled edges (Binding of the period). First edition of this epico-philosophical poem of nine thousand verses. A finely bound copy, the spine decorated with elegant gilded palmettes. Note the depth of the side gutters, probably due to a desire to standardize the format of the copy with other volumes.
