Paris, De l'Imprimerie de P. Didot l'aîné, 1814. In-8, fawn half-basane, smooth spine decorated with gilt fillets and irons, gilt numeral on tail, red title page, yellow edges, modern slipcase (period binding).
First edition of Stendhal's first book, published under the pseudonym of Louis-Alexandre-César Bombet.
Bound in an unidentified contemporary DF.
Some light foxing, stains to hinge edges on boards and along spine. Minor restoration to upper head and spine ends.
