VIGNY (Alfred de). The More of Venice, Othello. Tragedy translated from Shakspeare [sic] into French verse. Paris, Levavasseur et Canel, 1830. In-8, cherry half-calf, spine decorated with filets and cold irons with nerves underlined by a gilt roulette, speckled edges (modern pastiche binding). First edition of this tragedy first performed at the Comédie-Française on October 24, 1829, with Mademoiselle Mars in the role of Desdemona; this was her only role for Vigny's theater. Elegant, fresh binding. Faint brown spots.
