Engraved hours in Roman numerals, minutes (15, 30, 45) in Arabic numerals. Signed "Bidault Paris / Quay de L'horloge". France, Paris, mid-18th century 18 x 26 x 26 cm Historical background: Nachet locates Claude Bidault quai de l'Horloge as early as 1650 after moving from the Louvre, an address that would be used by at least one of his sons. A "Bidault, quai de l'Horloge" is listed in the Almanach du Commerce of 1772, among the foundrymen for mathematical instruments.
