Henri Mirabaud served his apprenticeship from 1841 to 1846 in the bank founded by his father Jacques in Milan in 1814. In 1846, following his marriage to Denise Paccard (1827-1893), he joined his father-in-law Barthélémy Paccard's merchant bank, becoming its head in 1859. Under his leadership, the Mirabaud-Paccard bank participated in the creation of the Compagnie Générale des Marchés, which built most of the covered markets in Paris. He was a member of the Presbyteral Council and Consistory of the Reformed Church of Paris.
