Keaka Enok Ateng statuette - Lot 23
Keaka Enok Ateng statuette Nigeria Wood H. 31.5 cm The Keaka people live near the Donga River, in the highlands on the border between Nigeria and Cameroon. This type of statue was used for divinatory, therapeutic or protective purposes. Schematically, this monoxyle object is divided into three parts. The rounded head presents a slightly concave face, with features reduced to their simplest expression. The trunk is more or less cylinder-shaped. Finally, the legs are probably the most abstract element. A dark patina, crusty in places, covers the object.
