Pipe Bamoun kan - Lot 62
Pipe Bamoun kan Cameroon Terracotta H. 32 cm Provenance: - Collection of Monsieur B., Paris Remarkable cylindrical pipe bowl with stylized geometric and zoomorphic decoration. It features spiders, the totem animal of the Fumban kingdom, and toads, symbols of life and fertility. Cowries on the upper rim evoke wealth. This extraordinarily large pipe was probably not intended to be smoked, but rather used by the king and his court as a ceremonial object attesting to their status.
