Koka Cup Marquesas Islands Wood with reddish-brown patina H. 22 cm Provenance: - According to family tradition, former Stéphane Long collection, naval officer and military doctor stationed between 1850 and 1900. - Monbrison Gallery Finely carved, this superb cup from the Marquesas Islands was used to prepare and distribute food during festivities and ritual ceremonies. Hemispherical in shape, it is adorned with engraved geometric motifs all over the outside. The beauty of the perfectly mastered shape is matched here by that of the decoration, whose motifs are accentuated by the reddish-brown nuances of the beautiful patina.
