PATRICIUS (Francisci). De Institutione Reipublicae Libri Novem. Paris, Pierre Vidoue for Galiot du Pré, 1518-1519. Two parts in 1 folio volume, fawn calf, central gilt cartouche (contemporary binding). First edition of this text written in 1463 by the Bishop of Gaëte (1413-1494). He is the author of the oft-repeated treatise "Le livre de la police humaine". The first French edition appeared in 1528 under the title "De l'institution et administration de la chose publicque". The title bears the mark of Galiot du Pré. Beautiful impression punctuated by a magnificent set of woodcut initials.
