Paris, Charles Gosselin, Garnier frères, 1843-1844. 4 volumes in two large in-8, blue half-chagrin, double gilt fillet, smooth spine decorated (Period binding). First illustrated edition, with 81 wood-engraved and steel-engraved plates after Daubigny, Honoré Daumier, Trimolet, Célestin Nanteuil, Gustave Staal, etc., and numerous woodcut vignettes in the text. A handsome copy bound in two volumes at the time. The Comte de Saint-Rémy plate in Volume III is poorly bound in Volume I. Freckling in Volume IV, as is often the case. Small oxidation hole in the margin of p. 57 in Volume I.
