Riondet, 1685. Small in-4, grained basane, muted ribbed spine, speckled edges (Binding of the period). A rare and valuable printing from Aosta, by the town's first printer: after working in Chambéry, Estienne Riondet moved to Aosta in the early 1680s, where he printed Le Héros des Alpes ou la vie du grand saint Bernard de Menthon in 1683, the first book printed in the Italian city. (Dufour & Rabut, L'Imprimerie... en Savoie du XVe au XIXe siècle, pp. 119-131). Copy from the Capuchin convent in Moutiers (handwritten ex-dono). Title soiled, wormhole in lower margin, marginal wetness on a few leaves. Restorations to binding (corners, head and spine).
