Small in-4, brown calf, ornate spine, red speckled edges (Binding of the period). Rare edition of the synodal statutes of the diocese of Besançon, published under the authority of Archbishop Antoine-Pierre de Grammont (1615-1698), who took an active part in the defense of Besançon during the invasion of Franche-Comté by Louis XIV's troops in 1668 (Perrod, 2211). Handwritten bookplate on title. Hinges rubbed, restoration to headpieces.
