CHAPELAIN (Jean). La Pucelle or Delivered France. Poëme héroïque. Paris, Augustin Courbé, 1656. In-folio, brown granite calf, spine decorated with fleurs-de-lis (period binding). A very handsome 17th-century French illustrated book, featuring a frontispiece, a portrait of the Duc d'Orléans engraved by Nanteuil after Philippe de Champagne, 12 plates engraved by Abraham Bosse after Claude Vignon, and a number of bands and culs-de-lampe. Some leaves foxed. Modern lining and endpapers, binding badly restored (corners, headpieces and hinges).
