DAUBASSE (Arnaud). Œuvres d'Arnaud Daubasse peignier en corne. Villeneuve, chez le citoyen Currius fils, M. CC. LXXXXXVI [1796]. In-8, marbled basane, ornate smooth spine, red parts, red edges (contemporary binding). First edition of the works of this agenais anacréon born around 1660 in Moissac, who defined himself as mèstre penchenièr en corna que non sap legir ni escriure (master of horn comb making who can neither read nor write). Most of the pieces are in Occitan. First known printing from Villeneuve-sur-Lot (or Agen): it must be dated 1796 and not 1806, as by this date the citizen Currius had been established for several years in Agen (cf. Andrieu, Bibliographie de l'Agenais, t. I, p. 214; not reported in Deschamps). Copy printed on blue paper, with leaves 57-58 and 61-62 bound twice. Stamp on title. Restoration to spine.
