RIOLAN (Jean). Opera omnia. Paris, Plantin, Adrien Périer, 1610. In-folio, fawn calf, double cold fillet, richly decorated spine, red title page, red edges (18th-century binding). Collective edition of the medical and philosophical works of Jean Riolan (1539-1605), a physician from Amiens who taught in Paris and was a fierce opponent of Harvey's theses on blood circulation. Fine portrait of the author, engraved on copperplate by Halbeck. A copy bearing the arms of Joseph Bonnier de La Mosson (1702-1744), treasurer of the States of Languedoc and a wealthy collector. Freckling, wetness on several leaves. Restorations to binding (headbands, spines, corners and elbows).
