The Dada exhibition at the Sidney Janis Gallery, the first post-war Dada retrospective, was entirely conceived and organized by Marcel Duchamp, as was the poster. This highly visual poster also serves as a catalog, with 4 introductory texts by Arp, Huelsenbeck,
J.H. Levesque and Tzara. It is printed in black and orange inks on Japanese paper.
The poster was voluntarily distributed crumpled at Duchamp's instigation, at the opening of the exhibition.
Complete with Handle with care butterfly. The poster's mailing envelope is addressed to Marcel Lévesque by J. H. Levesque, author of one of the 4 texts printed for the exhibition.
