Ceylon, 17th century H. 6.5 cm - W. 24.8 cm - D. 19.4 cm - Gross weight: 1,368.5 g (Minor damage and restorations) This type of box, made in the Dutch colonies, was intended for the European market. A box made of ivory panels with similar silver mountings and originating from Sri Lanka, dated to around 1750, is held at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam (Inv. NG-1994-14).
