Saint John the Evangelist on Patmos, carved in the round fro - Lot 40
Saint John the Evangelist on Patmos, carved in the round from oak, polychromed and gilded. Standing with his head slightly raised, he holds his Gospel in his left hand and makes a gesture of blessing with his right hand; he is dressed in a tunic with a slit neckline edged with braid, cinched at the waist by a belt from which hang a reed pen and an inkwell, as well as an open cloak with a buttonhole on one side of the collar.
