First edition, illustrated by Frédéric BENRATH (1930–2007) with 5 original etchings as inserts. Limited edition of 82 numbered copies on pure rag paper from the Piombé mill, signed by the author and the artist (no. 41). Julien GRACQ’s copy, bearing a signed autograph dedication by Michel Butor dated 1990 on the half-title page and, opposite the title page, a watercolor gouache accompanied by a signed autograph dedication by Frédéric Benrath .
