Kazumi Yoshida, Japan, 1953
A polymorphous and visionary artist, Kazumi Yoshida was introduced to the art world as a child, developing early on a personal language that blends Japanese culture with a Western sensibility. He lives and works between Tokyo and New York, where he moved in 1982 to collaborate with the prestigious Clarence House design house, of which he is now Artistic Director.
Throughout his career, Yoshida has skilfully crossed the boundaries between art, design and fashion, creating works ranging from paintings (acrylics, mixed media, wood mosaics) to textiles and decorative arts, such as tapestries, fabrics, cashmere shawls and wallpapers.
Internationally recognized since the 1990s, Yoshida consolidated his reputation in the early 2000s through his collaboration with Hermès, for whom he designed projects combining visual poetry and refined materials. His creations, suspended between figuration and abstraction, unfold an imaginary world teeming with symbols, colors and harmonies, where oriental lightness blends with theenergy of the contemporary world.
Today, his works are part of numerous private collections and international institutions, confirming his role as a cultural bridge between East and West.
