(Approval): olive green morocco, triple gilt fillet, small fleuron at the corners, smooth spine decorated, red title coin, inner floral scroll, red lining and tabis guards, gilt edges (contemporary binding). Original edition. Posthumous work dealing with various subjects of morality, politics, metaphysics and theology, preceded by reflections and praise under the pen of d'Alembert and Moncrif, praising Jean Terrasson (1670-1750), Oratorian, philosopher and academician, member of the Academy of Sciences, then of the French Academy. Perfect binding attributable to Derome père. From the library François-Léon Galle (1854-1914), founding member of the Société des bibliophiles lyonnais, with his ex-libris engraved by A. Steyert and bearing the motto Non leo sed gallus. Some slight foxing, especially on the first and last pages. Spine faded, stained at the binding.
