DORGELES (Roland)
Cabaret de la belle femme. Paris, Émile-Paul frères, undated [1924]. In-4, 4 ff.n.ch. (including an engraved frontispiece), 124 pp. and 3 ff.n.ch., 7 pl.: Duck blue morocco, small scroll of lemon morocco bordering the plates, with two pieces of mosaic and embossed morocco "small squares" decorated with an ornamental pastille evoking two straps of fasteners, smooth spine bearing the golden title and decorated at the head and tail with 4 large black mosaic chevrons extending over the plates, large interior morocco frame in the same colour and decorated with the same motifs, burlap lining and endpapers, marbled, untrimmed paper double endpapers, cover and back, half morocco shirt and case (Pierre Legrain). 60 compositions by André Dunoyer de Segonzac, including 2 drawings on the cover, 50 others in the text, and 8 plates engraved with etching. Edition at 640 copies, this one on Rives laid paper (no 163). On the false title, signed autograph sent to Mrs Liliane Gaston Lévy. Interesting mosaic binding by Pierre Legrain. Its decoration imitates a binding with clasps, whose false straps of fasteners recall the famous pieces of embossed leather "small squares", inseparable elements of the technical vocabulary of Jean de Gonet who used them since the 1980s. Broken case and cracked shirt hinges. (Pierre Legrain, Répertoire, 1965, No. 236.)
