Atlantis. Paintings and drawings from Paul-Élie Dubois' Hoggar. Lyon, Cercle lyonnais du Livre, 1934. Small folio, richly mosaic morocco in the form of a four-tone checkerboard, inner border enhanced with blue and black listels, silk lining and endpapers, gilded edges on witnesses, preserved covers, case (G. Cretté succ. de Marius Michel). 87 colour compositions by Paul-Élie Dubois, eight of which are full-page, woodcut by Pierre Bouchet. P.-E. Dubois was part of the official mission sent to the Hoggar in 1928. It was the first time a painter travelled through this mysterious land. Limited edition of 162 copies on Arches vellum. Member's copy, enriched with two original gouache compositions signed by Paul-Élie Dubois, an original headband, the suite of plates replaced, and the engraving of the Menu. The painter's autograph sent to Albert Natural (II,2009, n° 403). Luxurious mosaic binding by Georges Cretté, representative of his best work. Its decoration evokes the carpets of the Maghreb.
