Vignette engraved with the arms of France on the title pages. Engraved headbands and lettering. Framed text. Bindings of the period. Blue morocco, gilt decoration, small iron with fleur-de-lys crowned in the corners, framed with castors and irons, long spines decorated and gilt, lining and endpapers of pink silk, gilt edges. Provenance: Michelle-Geneviève Perrin (1707-1789), ex-libris manuscrit sur une garde: This book belongs to Miss Michelle Perrin, chambermaid to the Queen -- acquired by Henri Polaillon from Cornuau on March 4, 1918. Small hinge hooks, dirty spine. - Hours of Notre-Dame du Mont Carmel. Paris, Widow Savoye, 1770. In-8 (168 x 100mm). Period binding. Red morocco, gilt decoration of a triple filet with a Lyon rosette around the covers, spine with gilt and gilt ribs, green paper endpapers, gilt edges. The correspondence of Helvetius evokes this chambermaid of the Queen about an exchange of apartments in Versailles. Before her death, the Queen made an important donation to this woman from her close circle of acquaintances.
