The t. IV is titled: Letters from a Swiss to a Frenchman where we see the real interests of the Princes & Nations of Europe who are at war. Basel, 1704. Bindings of the period. Black morocco, gilt decoration, coat of arms in the center of the covers, triple fillet binding with rosette at the corners, spine with gilt and gilt ribs, gilt edges. Provenance: arms of Louis-Charles de Machault d'Arnouville (1667-1750), lieutenant of police of the city of Paris from 1718 to 1720 before being a member of the Conseil d'Etat and then first president of the Grand Conseil (OHR 2153) . Jean de La Chapelle (1651-1723), member of the French Academy, writer, nephew of Boileau and close friend of the Prince de Conti, was sent by Louis XIV to Switzerland in the service of his parallel diplomacy.
