The Hague, Rutgert Christophe Alberts, 1724. 4 volumes in-folio, marbled calf, large gilt lace, porphyry brown calf frame set with two gilt rollers with fleurons at the corners, the whole drawing a large rectangular panel, cartouche in the center, decorated spine, red title and brown-green tomaison coins, marbled edges (Dutch binding at the time). Superb atlas by Blaeu, illustrated with 12 allegorical frontispieces and 314 intaglio engraved maps and plates depicting views of Italy, monuments, city maps, etc. Text in Latin, French and Dutch. Attractive copy, preserved in a remarkable decorated Dutch binding of the period. Some light freckles. Volume I, tear without missing on the edge of the board of the Verona amphitheatre. In Volume IV, a folding part of the board showing the interior of the basilica of Rome is almost detached. Very rubbed binding, lack of skin on a plate and small lacks in the nerves of volume I. Accidents to headdresses.
