Le Meunier d'Angibault. Paris, Desessart, 1845-1846. 3 volumes in-8, blond half calf, smooth spine decorated with gilt and cold filets, red title and tomaison, number L. H. gilt on the tail, speckled edges (Binding around 1860). First edition of this novel, first published in serial form in the newspaper La Réforme. A large part of volume III is occupied by the Persian epic Korrouglou. Copy of Ludovic Halévy (1834-1908), novelist and academician who was also Jacques Offenbach's librettist. It bears, at the tail, his gilt numeral, his bookplate engraved on the flyleaf and, on a flyleaf, a note from his hand noting a wrong placement of the leaves. Wet stamp of the Parisian bookstore-papeterie V. Levitré repeated. Fresh and elegant binding. Some foxing. The dedication and the false title leaf erroneously bound at the end of volume I. Angular paper loss on a few leaves of volumes II and III.
