PRISON HISTORY - EMPIRE. Set of 14 documents. Norman-Cross and "Portchester Castle", years 1813 and 1814 and (s.l.n.d.). 92 pp. in-folio (32 x 20.4) and for the map 59.3 x 45 cm. Address for mails to " Porchester". Amazing set of documents written from the Norman-Cross prison to the Fort of Portchester in England. This fort was a place of detention for about 7,000 Napoleonic soldiers. The first memoir, written from Portchester Fort, consists of various articles copied from French and English newspapers, such as "Verses on the Battle of Dresden by Mr. Marchand," or articles from the London Gazette Extraordinaire, "Mouille-Farine to the Author of Eleonore. Some articles give an overview of prison life in the fort, such as the state of "distributions" of rations, etc.; 12 plays bearing the mention "Les personnes chargées de la Verification of letters, are requested to let the present one pass, the contents of which are intended for the amusement of the French prisoners at Porchester" all of these plays were sent from Norman-Cross [prison] to Portchester prison, some of the plays have scores, and indications of a certain Lamblot. The last document, a large page (59.3 x 45 cm), with plans and precise descriptions (troop movements etc.), represents 12 Napoleonic battles
