PÉRELLE.
Collection of 288 copper-engraved plates in an oblong in-folio volume, half porphyry basane, smooth spine decorated (Binding around 1900). Important collection of 288 beautiful copper-engraved plates, constituted by an amateur of the late 18th century. A handwritten title leaf added by the latter at the head indicates that the volume contains not only the plates of the first work of Pérelle, but that it is also increased by several Vûes, Plans & Profiles which are not found there [...], brought to light by Langlois, and also cleared of several inscriptions which are not found under the first originals. The plates have been numbered and the numbering refers to a manuscript table. Among the engravings are numerous views of Paris, Versailles, Chantilly (21 plates), Saint-Cloud, 15 views of Rome, a view of St. Mark's Square in Venice and a view of the fountain of Tivoli. Large map of the provostry and viscounty of Paris, drawn by G. Delisle and bearing the address of Amsterdam, chez Covens et Mortier, with the colored outlines, added at the end. Restoration to a few plates. Map lined, with small split at the center fold. Binding rubbed.
