De alimentorum facultatibus libri III. Paris, Simon de Colines, 1530, in-4, cherry half-maroquin, smooth spine decorated, yellow edges (modern binding). Renouard, Colines, p. 155. - Vicaire, col. 380. First edition of the Latin translation, due to Joachim Martin, a physician from Ghent who was part of Erasmus' humanist entourage. De alimentorum facultatibus is one of the first medical treatises entirely devoted to food: Galen discusses bread, vegetables, fruits and other plant products, meat and fish, milk, cheese, honey and wine. Handwritten annotations of the time in the margins of some leaves. Old handwritten motto on the title: Deo non hominibus signed Espaignol. Copy in modern binding, the spine decorated in the 18th century taste. Trace of wetness in the lower part of the volume with wine-colored stains on the first 40 leaves.
