BELLMER Hans
11 AUTOGRAPHIC LETTERS SIGNED AND ONE POST CARD SIGNED to Marc DUPRAT. September 1958 to October 1972. 13 pages in-4 and in-8 in ink, some envelopes. Correspondence addressed to the psychiatrist Marc Duprat, the friend of the couple Bellmer-Unica Zurn, eventually in charge of selling Bellmer's works. ... For this year," I am told, "the Copley Foundation has awarded me its prize for painting" ... "As for the possible sale of some drawings, but that would be perfect! You will have a third of the sale price" ... Change of tone in the last letter: ... "You were talking about an autobiographical text in which I seem to play, according to you, a rather large role. Well, I repeat! I do not authorize you to publish a letter that concerned Unica Zurn and myself. True or not, this is defamation with intent to harm. You can be sure that justice is merciless with defamatory companies. It will know how to crown your existence properly" ... On the back of the first letter are pencil drawings of naked women, some in the spirit of Bellmer, and saucy inscriptions. The invitation card of the Fürstenberg gallery for the Songs of Maldoror illustrated by Hans Bellmer, the front is signed by Bellmer.
