[BIBLE]. Sanctus Hieronymus interpres biblie. Biblia cum concordantiis veteris et novi testamenti et sacrorum canonum. Lyon, Jacob Sacon for Antoine Koberger of Nuremberg, September 1513. In-folio (355 x 245 mm) of [14] ff., 317 ff., [1] f.bl., [25] ff. (sig. aa8 bb6; a-z8 A-Q8 R5 AA-BB8 CC10) Brown calf with cold decoration on the boards, spine with white painted nerves, chased metal corners, traces of clasps, red edges (period binding). A very fine edition of the Bible with the commentaries of St. Jerome printed in Lyon by Jacob Sacon for the German printer Antoine Koberger (ca 1440-1513) known for his Nuremberg Chronicle. Koberger used the Lyon presses from 1506 to 1522, in the workshop of Jacob Sacon but also of Jean Marion, for a series of illustrated Latin Bibles. This one, printed in Gothic type on double columns, is illustrated with about 140 woodcuts, two of which are full-page, copied from those of the famous Bible of Nicolo Malermi published by Ragazzo in Venice in 1490. It "follows the Venice edition of Lucantonio Giunta, May 28, 1511, annotated by Alberto Castellano, whose name appears here in the explanatory text." (Bibles printed from the 15th to the 18th century preserved in Paris, n°779). A precious copy entirely colored at the time with gold highlights, preserved in its stamped calf binding. Binding very worn but solid. Title stained with spotting, old inscriptions erased and a lack (about 4mm) that has been restored (resumption of the printer's mark on the front and loss of text on the back). A few faded leaves. A few small wormholes f. 259 at the end, not serious. Corrigendum: Angular loss on 1 leaf, some stains and small wetness on a few leaves, a restored marginal tear on one leaf without loss Baudrier, XII, 309-310.
