TABOUROT, Estienne The keys of the lord of Accords. A Paris, Chez Jean Richer, 1585. Bound with: PONTUS de TYARD. Twelve fables of rivers or fountains, with the description for the painting and the Epigrams. By P. D. T. In Paris, chez Jean Richer, 1586. 2 works in 1 volume in-12 (141 x 80 mm) of 124 ff. ; 23 ff. Red morocco, gilt lace "au pélican" on the boards, spine with ornate nerves, large inner frame decorated with multiple gilt scrolls and fillets, gilt edges on marbling (Chambolle-Duru). Interesting meeting of two curious and extremely rare opuscules in original edition, whose respective authors were friends and admired each other. The first part of Tabourot's collection is dedicated to Pontus de Tyard while the latter's work was published by Etienne Tabourot who wanted to give him the paternity of "his beautiful inventions, of which no one took possession". ORIGINAL EDITION of Tabourot's collection containing facetious and playful poems full of rebus, spoonerisms, puns, leonine verses, retrogrades, anagrams, etc., and which remains a testimony of first importance on the poetic practices of the time. Brunet (Supplément II, 718) affirms: "this volume is of an extreme rarity". ORIGINAL EDITION, which all bibliographers agree is extremely rare, of Pontus de Tyard's collection of epigrams, with a second edition title - the first one bears the date of 1585. It presents the description of twelve paintings or tapestries, to be executed on subjects taken from ancient authors, ordered by Diane de Poitiers to decorate the hall of mirrors of the castle of Anet. A precious copy having belonged to Baron Pichon (ex-libris) and bound for him by Chambolle-Duru in the famous "pelican" binding. It is enriched with a handwritten bill from the bibliophile noting the rarity of the second booklet: "One of the two known copies according to the note of n°306 of the catalog of the De Ruble sale". Title of the first work heavily washed, small epidermis at the top of the upper spine. Minor defect on 2 leaves.
