VERTOV, Dziga David Abelevich Kaufman. - PASKOV, Georgy.
Kino-nedelya N°4 (Cinema Week N°4), written, shot and edited by Dziga Vertov. Moscow, June 25, 1918. Lithographic poster lined with fine Japanese paper, matted It was made by Georgy Paskov, painter, designer and graphic artist; he designed the first postage stamps of the Soviet Union in 1923. 71 x 53 cm Nice condition, slight tear restored. In the spring of 1918, Vertov joined the Kino-Komitet of the Narkompros (People's Commissariat of Enlightenment), founded in November 1917, for whom he made the first filmed newspapers (Kinonedelia) from May 1918 to June 1919. Vertov, a pioneer of cinéma-vérité, left his mark on the history of documentary cinema through the directors Jean Rouch, Jean-Pierre Gorin and Jean-Luc Godard. His manifesto Kinoks-Revolution (Ciné-l'œil) published in the magazine Lef in 1923, announced the birth of a cinema freed from theater and literature, the camera "mechanical eye" must show "life in itself" and form "new men". Very attached to the documentary, he opposed other filmmakers like Einsenstein who, according to him, had too much recourse to fiction.
