Amsterdam, Zacharie Chatelain, 1731. 3 volumes in-12, red morocco, small gilt roulette in frame, coat of arms in the center, spine ornamented, green titles and vellum gilt edges (Russian binding of the time). Engraved copper portrait of the count of Bussy-Rabutin (1618-1693), lieutenant general of the king's armies and cousin of Madame de Sévigné, and an engraved fleuron after Picart repeated on the titles. A DELIGHTFUL RUSSIAN BINDING IN PINK MOROCCO WITH THE ARMS OF THE EMPRESS MARIA FEODOROVNA (1759-1828), WIFE OF CZAR PAUL I AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW OF CATHERINE II OF RUSSIA. It bears the storage label of the library of the imperial palace of Pavlovsk in Saint Petersburg. Slight uniform foxing. Spine slightly faded.
