MANUSCRIT. - Researches on the simplest and most natural principles for determining the formation of troops. S.l.n.d. [first half of the XVIIIth century]. Manuscript in-8 (175 x 110 mm) of 10 leaves, red morocco, triple gilt fillet, fleur-de-lis at the corners, coat of arms in the center, mention cavalry stamped in gold at the top of the boards, smooth spine decorated with double fillets and a repeated fleur-de-lis, interior roulette, gilt edges (Binding of the time). Manuscript of military tactics for the cavalry, bound with the arms of Louis XV, informing on the orders of battle, the disposition of the troops of battle (squadron) or of detachment (piquet), the maintenance of the service of the cavalry, etc. The Goal being to give to him [to the cavalry] the most positive order in which it must fight, it must be formed and exerted in all times, as well as it presents itself to the combat, so that the long habit of each man in the place which it must occupy, or it must move, and fight, ensures its movements and consequently its successes (f. 1r°). Text framed with a black ink fillet. Nice volume, with the arms of Louis XV.
