Paris, Veuve Estienne, 1732-1731. 4 volumes in-12, red morocco, triple gilt fillet, coat of arms in the center, spine decorated with fleur-de-lis repeated in the caissons, interior roulette, gilt edges (Binding of the period). With the coat of arms of Louis d'Orléans (1703-1752), son of the Regent, Philippe duc d'Orléans, and of Mademoiselle de Blois, legitimated daughter of Louis XIV and of the marquise de Montespan. Charles Rollin (1661-1741), son of a cutler, was a professor of rhetoric at the Collège Royal, rector of the University of Paris and finally director of the Collège de Beauvais. He was dismissed in 1720 because of his attachment to Jansenism. Wet stamp with the prince's arms on the titles. Wet stamp on the arms of the prince on the titles. Slightly stained on some leaves. Upper spine of volume III restored, spine slightly faded.
