Together 2 plates in one volume in-4, garnet morocco, jansenist, interior roulette, gilt edges (Binding around 1900). First edition of these two rare pieces by Jean Antoine de Baïf (1532-1589), poet of the Pléiade and friend of Ronsard. Carefully printed in italic type, with ornaments, bands and ornate letters. The first piece is an exhortation to Catherine de Médicis in which the poet, former secretary of Charles IX, pays tribute to the sovereign and recalls the services rendered by him to the crown. The second one marks Baïf's attempt to gain the favor of the new king, Henri III.
