BRUÈS (Guy de).
Ɵ The Dialogues against the new academicians, that all does not consist in opinion. Paris, André Wechel, 1557. In-4, soft vellum, traces of binding (Binding of the time). First edition of this curious piece in which the author brings in turn Ronsard, Nicot, Baïf and Aubert on subjects mainly concerning law, moral laws, epistemology and metaphysics. Guy de Bruès was for a time in relation with the poets of the Pléiade - Laumonnier even mentions him as having been, temporarily, member of the first brigade of Ronsard. He contributed, with Ronsard, Belleau, Peletier, Des Masures, etc., to the French edition of Ramus' Dialectic (1555) by providing translations of Latin quotations. A wide-margined and ruled copy with old reading notes. Restoration in the blank of the title, marginal wetness affecting several quires.
