Rare iron with ingot in melted and engraved bronze. Thick sole with rounded end decorated with foliage, shield surmounted by a crown Azure with a silver chevron accompanied by three gold stars, that of the point supported by a silver crescent accompanied by the letters F and M of the family Morel de Fromental (fig.), date 1726 and signature of the manufacturer J . [...] . C . Fet; run of a flowery scroll on the circumference and two fleurons leaning on the door of the ingot reserve closed by a pivoting knob; handle decorated with a cut leaf. First half of the 18th century, 1726 Height: 12,4 cm - Length: 17,7 cm - Width: 11,2 cm This beautiful iron probably belonged to Jeanne Morel de Fromental (1708-1758), from a Limousin family, before her marriage in 1729 to Jean de Villoutreys, Lord of Faye.
