Attribué à Barthélémy Roger (1767-1840), d'après Muneret (XI - Lot 238
Attribué à Barthélémy Roger (1767-1840), d'après Muneret (XIXe), d'après Jean-Baptiste Isabey (1767-1855) Portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte in bust, in uniform, bare head, face turned to the right, in an oval Lead pencil on paper, 158 x 125 mm. (the oval), 192 x 163 mm.(the sheet) Probably preparatory to the engraving, a copy of which is preserved in the British Museum (inv. 1867,1214.819), specifying in its letter "Muneret pinxit". This model is based on a pose invented by Isabey, visible in miniatures dated 1810, set in snuffboxes offered as gifts on the occasion of the marriage to Marie-Louise, such as the one kept in Cleveland (The Cleveland Museum of Art, inv. 1916.351).
